If you can decipher the above they are my times.
overall time, swim time, swim transition (really slow), bike time, bike transition, running time

So I signed up for a triathlon a while ago and it sounded like a great idea. This morning I wasn't so sure if it was such a great idea. But after it was all said and done it was a lot of fun! This shot was Henry trying to figure my goggles out pre-race.

Since this was my first triathlon I signed up in the "newbie" category. I was excited about that because I got a pink swim cap. The lame part was that the newbie women were the very last ones to go. So we all left for the start at 8:30. We got there and the first wave went at 9:00, us newbie women weren't until 9:25. I really didn't get nervous until we watched each wave go off one by one and all the thrashing arms. Finally it was our turn, the water was cold but I didn't think about once we were swimming, the salt water was huber gross and I was surprised that we couldn't touch the bottom from where they had us start (a little different than pushing off the pool wall like I was used to. The swim was only 1/3 mile but felt long. At one point I thought I was almost done and I heard a kayaker say "good job your half-way there" (not what I wanted to hear). It was hard to go in a straight line I got off course a couple of times and had to take my goggles off to reorient once but all in all it was fun!

Time for the bike. My friend let me borrow her sweet road bike so I was able to pass a lot of people on not as good bikes. The bike was actually a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I did 99% of my training in my living room and was seriously lacking on the hills but the sweet bike made up for any I was lacking.

Just starting the run, in the background you can see the transition area. I was a slow transitioner, it was hard for me mentally to think of everything I needed. I felt like I was in mom mode, okay what else could I possible need in the next 1/2 hour...sippy cup?

running was suprisingly easier than I thought it was going to me. So warm and loose, my body felt like jello and it just kept going.

a very happy ending.

Sharing the medal with Henry.

Henry had mixed feelings about the triathlon. I gave him a high five after the swim and a hug to start the run but both times he just cried when I left. Well he will figure it all out someday.
