"You Look Compact"

Today I was at the store and a women asked me how far along I was. When I told her 8 months she was very suprised and told me that I look compact. I don't feel compact but I am thankful that I look it. I think it is in the genes. My mom told me that people never believed that she was as far along as she was.

Also whenever we tell people that we don't know if it is a boy or a girl they sometimes ask if the technician couldn't tell. When we tell them it was by choice they think we are crazy, I still think it is fun :)

However my brother did send me this fun email of ways to guess so here you go...

1. Highs and Lows- this one you can do just by looking south: if you're carrying high, break out the pink. If your bump is low, you're carrying a boy.



I would say I am carrying high, so one point for a girl.

2. Be Still My Beating Heart- Next time your OB pulls out the Doppler to listen to baby's heartbeat, ask her to tell you what the heart rate is. According to legend, 140+ beats per minute indicates a girl, and below 140 a boy.

It has always been above 140, and at the last appointment it was 150 so another point for a girl.

3. Sweet and Sour- Craving ice cream every single day? Some people believe this means it's a girl. If you have to have salty or sour stuff, then it's a boy.

It is true that I have been craving ice cream every single day...but I think that was normal for me before I was ever pregnant. But I guess that is another point for a girl.

4. Chinese Birth Chart- This ancient method uses your age at conception and the month of conception to determine gender. Try it here!

According to the Chinese I will also be having a girl. That is 4-0 for a girl.

5. Potty Time This one's a little out there. Pee in a cup (you've been doing it at all your prenatal appointments anyway, haven't you?), mix a tablespoon of Drano in, and watch to see if it changes color. Green = girl, and blue = boy.

6. Even and Odd -Legend has it that the Mayans determined a baby's sex by looking at the mother's age at conception and the year of conception. If both are even or odd, it's a girl. If one's even and one's odd, it's a boy.

Mother's age = 24, year of conception = 2008

That makes it 5-0

7. Unlocking the Mystery- This is one for a friend to try. Place a key in front of your preggo friend and ask her to pick it up. If she grabs it by the narrow part, she's in for sugar and spice and all that. If she picks it up by the round part, it's snips and snails.

Someone else will have to sneakily do this to me...

8. Spot On- If you're breaking out like crazy, blame it on your girl babe. The belief goes that girls steal their mother's beauty, hence, those annoying zits.

Definitely a girl...6-0

9. Nice Ring to It- Pop off your wedding ring -- if you still can! -- and tie it to a string. Hang it over your belly. If it swings in a circle, a little guy's in your future. If it goes back and forth, you've got a girl.

I am at work and can't find string and that might look really weird if someone saw me doing this.

10. Queasy Does It- Sick as a dog during the first trimester -- or still? Signs indicate you're having a girl. Little or no morning sickness points to a boy.

Wow the first point for a boy. It is true I had no morning sickness- don't hate me.

Well I feel like it is official 6-1 odds it is a girl. Laura will be very very happy she already made a quilt for the baby and used all girl colors.

I guess we will just have to wait until delivery date to confirm the results. Also Boston is going crazy right now because the marathon is on Monday! Go Patriots day!
