Now that was embarrasing...

So last night Douglas ran to my work and then we were both going to go on a run together. See we are training for a 1/2 marathon that is coming up fast in the beginning of May. I recently realized that my running shoes are a year old (Because I just hit my year mark from being home from my mission and that is when I bought my shoes). Anyway so seeing how life is busy Douglas and I decided to multi task and we were going to run to the shoe store and buy me new running shoes and then we were going to run home. Traffic is bad that time of night so we would save time by running and then we would get to train at the same time.

So we get to the store and I decide to be really picky. The last shoes I bought were too small and I had to use them for a year and a half in Estonia and they caused me to lose my big toenail because they were too small. So after trying on a lot of pairs and running outside down the block and back I finally found the perfect pair. Of course I wanted to wear my new shoes home so I had to buy a new pair of socks because I forgot socks that day. So I put the new socks on the new shoes and then laced them real tight to run home. So we go to pay for the shoes and of course we only brought one credit card because we were running and it turns out that the card was expired. How embarrasing. I was already wearing the shoes. So we told them that we would run home and drive right back. So we did that and I get the shoes back and Douglas gives them the credit card to pay and...DECLINED. The lady tried it three times and everytime it was declined. So Douglas had the Discover as the last result and she tried that one but of course it expired in February.

So once again I gave the shoes back and we had to go home :( no new running shoes for me and just really embarrasing. I am sure they thing we have the worst credit in the world.

So we came home and got right on the internet to figure the situation out and it turns out that you shouldn't use a credit card unless your name is on it. Ever since Douglas and I got married I have been using his credit card. They finally caught us. We both had cards for the same account but it said Douglas' name on my card and on his card. The system finally caught us when Douglas travelled to Mexico and I made purchases at the same time in Boston...oops.

Well everything should be straightened out soon and maybe some day I will get my new running shoes.

That's really funny, but I feel bad for you at the same time too. Good luck getting those shoes!

Mel...that is a great story. I can totally understand why that would be embarassing. I hope that you can find some new shoes soon so you can break them in in time for your half marathon. You will do great I'm sure!! Just remember it is ok to walk when you get tired it gives your body that extra boost of energy.

That is a funny story. You guys are quite the multi-taskers. I hope you get your new pair of shoes (and don't lace the tight-I learned that the hard way.) Good luck on the 1/2 marathon. I just finished my first one last month when I did the Moab half. I am doing SLC half marathon in two weeks. You and Doug could come out and run it me. I didn't know you had a blog. I just started mine. I will add yours to ours so I can stay connected with you.

How funny! Tell Douglas you need your own credit card :o) Did you ever go back and get the shoes? At least you got a good story out of it! :)
